A woman is recovering after being shot by a deputy in Spartanburg County. Authorities say the incident happened around 7:30 PM Monday on Bridgeford Lane, after deputies responded to a call and encountered a suspect armed with a large kitchen knife. The woman was shot and taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A nearby resident described hearing a loud “pop” before emergency crews arrived. The deputy involved was not injured and has been placed on paid administrative leave, which the sheriff’s office states is standard protocol. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is now investigating the shooting.
