Thanks to a new dual enrollment welding certificate course at Spartanburg Community College’s Union County campus, 16 students are gaining hands-on experience and industry credentials — all before they even graduate high school.
The program is made possible through a generous donation from Barbara Rippy, which covers equipment, materials, and scholarships in perpetuity for future students. Students in this program will finish high school career-ready, equipped with certifications that are highly sought after in local manufacturing and welding industries.
