A Greenwood man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a series of violent armed robberies carried out through Facebook Marketplace. According to the 8th Circuit Solicitor, 19-year-old Tyrez Thomas used a fake profile to lure victims with a bogus iPhone sale, beginning in January 2023.
Thomas robbed three victims in total — and one of them was shot multiple times during the encounter. He pleaded guilty to attempted murder, armed robbery, and multiple other charges. Authorities are warning the public to use caution when meeting online sellers and buyers in person.
