After nearly a year of nonstop work, Lake Lure is on track to reopen by May 2026, bringing hope to local businesses and residents after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
The lake, once filled with sediment and overgrowth, is undergoing massive restoration thanks to efforts by FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers, who have been working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to bring the lake back to life.
🚧 Key Dates:
October 31, 2025 – Lake basin restoration complete
March 1, 2026 – Lake level high enough for rowing teams
May 1, 2026 – Full public reopening
