Former South Carolina State Senator Lee Bright is officially running to reclaim his old seat in District 12 following the resignation of Roger Nutt. Bright, who served from 2008 until losing re-election, has remained politically active with multiple bids for Congress and the state senate. His latest attempt comes after Nutt stepped down due to an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. A special election is scheduled for October 21, 2025. Filing for the seat opened August 29.
