The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Ohio-based Promedica Health Systems, alleging the nonprofit provided “grossly substandard care” at four nursing home facilities—including one in Greenville, South Carolina. The DOJ says ProMedica’s Rehabilitation Greenville East facility suffered from serious neglect between 2017 and 2023. Investigators cite lack of wound care, inadequate feeding, and poor hygiene among the violations.
