City leaders in Spartanburg, South Carolina, are mourning the loss of former Mayor Junie White, who served the community with dedication for over two decades.
White was elected mayor in 2009 and served until 2021, making a lasting impact on the city through initiatives in public safety, economic development, and community engagement. He previously served on Spartanburg City Council for four years before becoming mayor.
During his final council meeting, White was honored with the Order of the Palmetto—South Carolina’s highest civilian award—in recognition of his service to the state and city.
