Greenville came together to celebrate the grand reopening of Mayberry Park — a historic site with deep roots in the city’s Black community. First built in the 1920s, Mayberry Park was one of the few places Black children could play during segregation.
Now, 100 years later, the park has been fully renovated with a new ball field, public seating, and updated grounds. City leaders, former athletes, and local families gathered to commemorate its legacy and look ahead to a future of unity and inclusion.
