Panic and confusion swept the University of South Carolina campus after an active shooter alert was issued Saturday evening at the Thomas Cooper Library in Columbia. Students barricaded themselves and evacuated as police searched the area.
Authorities later confirmed no credible threat was found and the incident appears to be part of a wave of hoax or “swatting” calls affecting colleges nationwide. Minor injuries were reported during the evacuation, but no one was shot.
📲 Students received the all-clear around 8:06 PM.
🚨 The investigation is ongoing, and the library remains closed.
