A new statewide safety initiative is underway in South Carolina: every public K–12 school is being equipped with high-tech digital maps to help emergency responders act faster in a crisis. The project, led by Critical Response Group (CRG), uses military-grade mapping technology to scan every room, hallway, and closet in schools. These maps will be integrated with 911 dispatch systems and law enforcement tools by 2026, improving response times and saving lives. The state has invested nearly $5 million in the project.
