A thousand free trees are being given away to Upstate residents as part of a community effort to restore the tree canopy damaged by Hurricane Helene. The event, hosted by nonprofit Trees Upstate in partnership with Duke Energy, was held in Greenville and aims to reforest storm-damaged areas across the region.
Organizers say the event also honors the one-year anniversary of the hurricane’s impact and continues their mission of environmental restoration and community engagement. More giveaways are planned — next up: Spartanburg.
