The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about two new scams that are targeting local residents. One scam involves fake text messages claiming there’s a warrant out for your arrest due to missed jury duty, demanding immediate payment. In one case, a victim lost $5,000. The second scam targets the families of inmates, falsely claiming money is needed for an ankle monitor. Authorities stress that they will never ask for money via text, apps, or third-party websites.
If you receive suspicious messages, contact the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office directly at 864-260-4444 or visit them in person at 305 Camson Road, Anderson, SC.
