After a month-long deployment to the nation’s capital, South Carolina National Guard soldiers are back home. Deployed as part of the “Make DC Safe and Beautiful” operation, around 200 soldiers worked to provide safety support, patrol communities, and assist local law enforcement. In exclusive interviews with 7 News, soldiers reflect on the impact they made, including medical aid to civilians and reducing crime. D.C. officials reported a 14% drop in crime during the deployment window.
