As Clemson football fans pour into town, city crews work around the clock to keep the community clean. 7 News reporter Eriana Meadows takes you behind the scenes with Clemson Public Works, where workers like Don Johnson — a 20-year veteran — spend up to 17 hours on game days collecting up to 8 tons of trash. From sunrise cleanups to overnight shifts, these crews make sure fans can enjoy the game without wading through garbage.
Public Works says every resident and visitor can help by throwing trash in bins or leaving it beside them if they’re full. Student organizations also lend a hand, like the American Waterworks Association, which organizes yearly lake cleanups near Clemson.
