South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson says Clemson University has full legal authority to discipline or even fire faculty members over what he calls “vile” social media posts. In a letter to Clemson’s president, Wilson said the university can take corrective action following backlash over comments made after the death of a student named Kirk. This follows the suspension of a Clemson professor whose post was deemed inappropriate by university leadership.
A special meeting of the Clemson University Board of Trustees is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, though the official agenda has not been made public.
Stay tuned to 7 News WSPA for updates on the outcome of that meeting and how the university plans to move forward.
