Tragedy struck in Greenville County as 40-year-old Cesar Pena was hit and killed by a pickup truck while directing traffic at the intersection of East North Street and Tammont Drive in Taylors. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, Pena was wearing a reflective vest and working for his employer when the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Investigators are still working to determine who was at fault. Troopers emphasize that pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility between walkers and drivers.
