A South Carolina death row inmate convicted of murdering two law enforcement officers is now facing a crucial competency hearing. Steven Bixby was sentenced to death for the 2003 killings of two officers in Abbeville County. His execution, initially scheduled for May, was halted by the South Carolina Supreme Court pending a determination of his mental competence.
