The goal, McMaster says, is to protect taxpayer dollars and improve health outcomes across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Critics argue the move unfairly targets low-income families and imposes unnecessary government restrictions. Supporters call it a \u201ccommon sense\u201d measure. The executive order directs the Department of Social Services to submit a waiver to the USDA within 14 days\u2014and to keep trying until it\u2019s approved.<\/p>\n<p>Other states, including Florida and Texas, have passed similar restrictions, though not all are yet in effect.
