While initial mammograms are typically covered by insurance, additional tests like MRIs and ultrasounds can cost patients hundreds or even thousands of dollars out of pocket.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed legislation would require private insurers to cover all medically necessary follow-up breast imaging without any co-pays, deductibles, or co-insurance. Advocates say this would help ensure earlier cancer detection, improve survival rates, and reduce the financial burden on families.<\/p>\n<p>More than 25 other states already have similar laws in place.
