With over 1,500 miles of roads and 150 bridges to maintain, officials say there’s simply no existing funding source to cover the hundreds of millions of dollars required.

The proposed sales tax would apply across all seven municipalities, with 35% of the revenue expected to come from visitors rather than residents. County officials stress that this plan is about safety, transparency, and fairness, with project lists based on pavement conditions and community input.

The Anderson County Commission has passed the measure, but final approval now rests with county council. The first reading is scheduled for July 15th.

Residents can review project details on the county’s interactive website or contact Roads and Bridges staff at 864-260-4190 with questions.

Anderson County leaders say the condition of roads and bridges has reached a breaking point — and now

[15206

post-38413","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-upstate-news
["GET
